MANDATE:
The Alberta Police Based Victim Services Association (APBVSA) is a non-profit organization representing all police-based victim service programs throughout the Province of Alberta.
MISSION STATEMENT
APBVSA promotes leadership, education, professional development and mentorship within and between all members of the Association.
Objectives
- Assist managers of victim service programs in meeting basic standards of operation and practice
- To provide training to promote best practices in program management to establish and maintain quality services for victims of crime and tragedy
- Represent membership through identification of systemic issues and, in partnership with appropriate government and community agencies, develop recommendations for change.
- Maintain the APBVSA website for membership program support and to provide a resource for the public and victims of crime in locating local victim service programs
- Raise awareness of local victim service programs to assist membership programs with volunteer recruitment, community support and promote services available to victims of crime
- Facilitate a strong working relationship with partners and stakeholders
